A few years ago, on a totally normal Tuesday, I opened my inbox and saw the last thing I ever expected: An invitation to visit a tiny fishing village called Cordova in Alaska.
I had to read it twice.
As someone who’s loved salmon my whole life, it felt like winning the lottery.
Before that trip, I didn’t know much about sockeye salmon other than it was wild-caught and came from Alaska. But over the next five days, I got to see firsthand how much care and hard work go into catching and protecting this beautiful fish.
